Montgomery Sculpture Trust Snells Fann. Snells Lane Amersham Common. Bucks HP7 9Q Registered CharityNo 10453G9SCULPTURE STILE A Montgomery Sculpture Trust competition. Background. The collection of the Sculpture Trust is in an orchard which is currently divided into two parts and access is through a hand made gate and stile. This division is to enable hay making and grazing of two resident donkeys which takes place around in the orchard This means that the arrangement of the sculptures is divided by barbed wire and fencing. The sculptures are large, only one or two are smaller than 2m high. In the future some fencing will need to remain for security reasons and for the grazing of the donkeys. One solution is to have temporary electric fencing which is easily moveable and could leave large areas open but enable selected grazing. The Trustees are commissioning a design for a replacement gate and stile which could stand alone and act as part of segregated grazing. The facility to attach the standard electric fencing peripherals is essential to make the arrangementwork. The final result should allow flexible re-location of the electric fence, improve the arrangements for grazing and remove visual obstruction between the sculptures. On Open Days donkeys can be removed to other fields and electric fencing removed from the orchard leaving stile and gate as a practical, free standing structure in its own right. Purpose 1. To generate alternative ideas for a central stile and gate at Snells Farm orchard with attachments to allow for connection to moveable electric fencing. 2. To allow the selection of suitable designs for ultimate construction.
