Designed with landscape architects Landscape Town & Country for Milton Keynes Development Corporation, the conical shelter forms the hub of a children's play area. Local historian Monica Mears produced a text consisting of snippets of information about the man (Including contemporary illustrations & diary extracts). The one off shelter was liberally coated with Braille/ Photo- etched plagues along with a granite floor based on Monica's work.
A number of specialist sub- contractors were involved: Peter Weston (Structural Engineer) Bossom's Boat Yard (Glu-Lam ring beams), Photofabrications Ltd (Photo-etched Plagues), Anglian Memorials (Granite Floor Feature), R.N.I.B (Braille plagues), P.Bird & Sons (Stainless Steel Fixings/ Fabricated Copper Cone), D.W Bodley & Sons (Joinery), Drakard & Humble (Floor feature), Town Art (Curved bench seat) & last but by no means least, the main Contractor, Martin's Plant Hire.
